Does Religion Affect the Brain?

Postby bastet » Mon May 30, 2011 1:43 am

There has been a study done in the US regarding older people that have been 'born-again'. It's none specific as to the religion, so do those of us on here that have had a late life changing experience with regard to Paganism or Spirtualism, have reason to be worried   :? :?

Oh dear :(
So if you've had a religious experience later in life, the part of your brain that learns/remembers shrinks more than other peoples ?? Not sure what I think about this - I cant think of any explanation why that would happen. I'm interested to see what other people think.

Hmmm,

Can't quite get my head around this at the moment for obvious reasons, all I will say for now is, I suppose Pagans (as they not mentioned) are exempt, but if that a good or bad thing? I know not.

Gut instict tell me it a load of yanger.

I've read that people with some sort of religous veiws were more happy than peope without and as a result they had a more positive outlook on life. They also lived longer as a result.

I think this survey referred purely to born-again experiences, rather than long held religious views. P&K.
